Install Prep for concrete coatings

Preparation

Moisture and hardness test are done first, to properly ensure your floor is ready and able to be coated with the proper diamonds on our machines. Every floor is ground using an 800 lb Lavina floor grinder with a vacuum that has the size to match. This opens the pores of the concrete to allow our product to bond better to the substrate.  Any cracks are cut open to ensure the best possible grip for our Mender product. All opened cracks and pits are then slightly overfilled with our mender and ground back flat which will ensure the floor is as flat and level as possible.

Polyurea Base Coat Roll

Base Coat & Chip

We start by coating all of the edges of the floor with our pure polyuria base coat, which comes in grey or tan depending on the chip color chosen. We then use a roller to cover the surface entirely, ensuring the base coat is spread out completely evenly. Toward the end of the rolling process another technician starts broadcasting vinyl flakes onto the wet floor. We use spikes, to walk on the wet coating and cover 110% of the surface in chips to ensure the floor will be even and uniform when dry.

Scrape

After the base coat is dry (about an hour) we scrape the floor in two different directions making sure the coating is as flat as possible. All excess chip from the first scrape is reclaimed for future jobs, and the second scrape that is too fine to reuse is then vacuumed. Inside, outside and around the surface is then thoroughly vacuumed, leaving the area around the coating looking better than when we arrive!

The final step in our installation process is the application of our clear, UV-stable polyaspartic coat. Similar to our base coat, we start by coating the edges of the surface first. What is different is we use a squeegee to spread the product to the desired thickness. Before the floor is entirely covered with the top coat another installer wearing spikes uses an 18-inch roller to remove any lines left behind. The final roll is done in the opposite direction leaving an evenly coated floor that you will love for years to come.

Premium Garage Floor Concrete Coatings

Dry Time & Usage

Traditional surfaces, like garages can be walked on 8-12 hours after being freshly coated, meaning you can start walking on your new floor coatings the next morning after installation. 36-48 hours dry-time for the floor is needed before ANY heavy Traffic, including: driving, closing the garage door, and moving heavy objects, such as furniture. These things can typically be done the day after you are allowed to walk on the floor or the second day after installation. Enjoy your new floor!
